About Choi Kwang Do
Choi Kwang Do (CKD) was developed by Grandmaster Kwang Jo Choi between 1978 and 1987. Now in his 80’s, GM Choi’s physicality is testimony to his art. He has retained the agility, strength and mental vitality of someone a fraction of his age.
The art is based on the principles of human anatomy and physiology, and incorporates techniques from various martial arts, including karate, taekwondo, and judo.
One of the key features of Choi Kwang Do is its focus on practical self-defense techniques that can be used in real-life situations. The art emphasizes the use of natural body movements, which are designed to be efficient and effective in a variety of situations. This makes it a popular choice for people looking to learn self-defense skills and improve their physical fitness.
Another important aspect of Choi Kwang Do is its emphasis on mental and emotional development. Practitioners of the art are encouraged to develop a positive mindset, to focus on their goals, and to cultivate a sense of discipline and self-control. This makes it an ideal choice for people looking to improve their mental health and wellbeing, as well as their physical fitness.
Choi Kwang Do is also known for its non-competitive nature. Unlike many other martial arts, there are no competitions or tournaments in Choi Kwang Do. Instead, the emphasis is on personal development and self-improvement. This makes it a great choice for people who are not interested in competitive sports but still want to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
The techniques used in Choi Kwang Do are designed to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities. The art emphasizes low-impact movements and does not include any high-risk techniques, making it a safe choice for people of all ages and fitness levels.
